Essential Oil Dilution Guidelines

DILUTIONS:
Essential oil dilution guidelines have been established to help keep you safe when using essential oils. Essential oils are very strong and should be diluted (usually in a carrier oil) or incorporated into a finished product such as a massage oil, lotion, or aroma spray. Whether diluting an essential oil or adding it to a finished product, the oil content should only account for 1% to 2% of the total blend.

Here’s an easy guide to essential oil dilution guidelines for how much of an essential oil to add to 1 oz of carrier oil or to a finished product. These dilutions for 1 oz can be easily multiplied for larger batches of a finished product or divided for a fraction of an ounce. Remember to always perform a patch test before using an essential oil blend on a large part of your body. Take a drop of your finished product and rub it on the inside of one of your forearms. Wait for 24 hours for signs of a reaction. If no reaction appears you are safe to use your product.

Be sure you are using a quality carrier oil to make your dilutions. Also make sure you are using a 100% pure essential oil from a vendor you trust. We offer 100% pure essential oils in our shop from a trusted vendor who has been in business selling essential oils for almost 30 years.
