Cedarwood Essential Oil Benefits

Cedarwood essential oil has many benefits for your health, as well as being able to repel pests. Think of your grandmother’s cedar chest where she stored clothes to protect them from moths. Cedarwood essential oils’ health benefits include a host of helpful properties.

How Is Cedarwood Essential Oil Made?

The cedar tree is a large evergreen tree that has the botanical designation of Cedrus Atlantica. Another popular cedarwood essential oil is Cedarwood Blood, which has the botanical designation Juniperus virginiana. It is called Cedarwood blood because it is extracted from the Eastern Red Cedar. Cedarwood essential oil is extracted from wood chips, stumps, and sawdust from the cedar tree. The wood is steam distilled to create a thick, slightly sticky yellow to amber colored oil.
