Cedarwood Atlas Essential Oil- Cedrus Atlantica
This Cedarwood Atlas essential oil is distilled from the wood of cedar trees native to Algeria and Morocco in the Atlas Mountains. They can grow as tall as 150′. The essential oil is extracted from the wood by steam distillation.
The yellow to deep amber oil is thick and slightly sticky. The aroma of the oil can be described as sweet and woodsy with balsamic undertones. This essential oil blends well with other oils that have woodsy or floral aromas. Clary sage, cypress, frankincense, juniper, ylang-ylang, and bergamot all blend well with cedarwood essential oil.
In traditional medicine cedarwood essential oil is said to have these properties
- antibacterial (respiratory/urinary)
- insecticide/insect repellent
