Key Lime Essential Oil- Citrus aurantifolia
Key Lime Essential Oil (Citrus aurantifolia) from Mexico is 100% Therapeutic Quality Essential Oil produced through cold pressing of the peel from the fruit. The aroma is light and fresh and has been described as “bright”, “refreshing” and “uplifting”.
Key Lime Essential Oil is quite similar to “regular” Lime (same botanical name) but is a bit smaller fruit and is often not quite as green as regular limes. Aromatically, Lime essential oil blends well with other citrus oils and with lavender, rosemary, and neroli. While I personally prefer expressed Lime essential oil for aromatherapy, many perfumers use distilled Lime essential oil in order to avoid potential problems with phototoxicity.
Lime fruit has often been used in place of Lemon fruit in many traditional practices and even in some cooking applications and it shares many qualities with Lemon fruit, although the aroma is very different. Both Lime and Lemon fruit have been used at times in the past for infections, poor appetite, sore throats, and colds
- Geranyl Acetate
- Neryl Acetate
